My Husband Wants A Divorce—What Do I Do Now?
Nothing is more exciting than to hear from someone whose marriage was literally brought back to life when it appeared to be dead. Recently we heard from a wife who made a decision to obey God’s command in Ephesians 5:33, even after they were separated! Read what she says:
My husband wanted a divorce.
My mother in law sent me the book Love & Respect. I honestly never thought about really reading it. A few months later my husband told me he wanted a divorce. I started reading this book and I'm so glad I did. I started showing my husband respect even with us being separated and he was talking to other women. I never gave up and I kept reading. I had breakthroughs realizing that I hadn't thanked him or respected him. I left everything up to him and took him for granted.
We are avoiding the Crazy Cycle.
We have now been back together for 2 months and everything is so much better. We don't fight or argue. We talk everything out. We are avoiding that crazy cycle. I really believe Love & Respect helped save my marriage and brought me closer to God and to my husband. I have encouraged a lot of my friends to read this book married or not. It is an amazing book!
Nothing is Impossible.
Luke 18:27 says that God is the God of the impossible. Regardless of the state of your marriage, applying His command to love or respect your spouse can make a difference. Your response is your responsibility. That realization is what turned this wife’s marriage around. She began to take responsibility for her part in the breakdown of their marriage. This doesn’t mean she condoned her husband’s part! But she decided, “my response is my responsibility.”
However, each one of you also must love his wife as he loves himself, and the wife must respect her husband (Ephesians 5:33 NIV).
It could make all the difference in the world.
