Frequently asked questions about booking and hosting a live Love and Respect Conference.

What is the minimum number of people needed for a conference?
Simply put, there are two factors:
* the number for the pro-rating to apply (1200 people)
* the seating requirement (a facility that seats 2000+).

What is the pricing for hosting a live conference? How does the pro-rating work?
The pricing is $35.00 per person.

In addition, we have created a sliding scale for those who host a conference that enables you to generate revenue to put back into your marriage ministry. After you reach 1200 people, you receive $10.00 per person, which is retroactive beginning with the 401st person. The sliding scale "kicks in" after you register 1200 people. Based on Hebrews 10:24 we are stimulating you to reach out to hurting couples and recover the money that you put out up front to cover your facility costs.

Because Emerson was a Senior Pastor he understands the church culture. Churches aren't interested in making money per se but neither are they interested in losing money. For example, staff are not expected to make money for the church but are lovingly rebuked for spending money that was not in the budget! Our system removes the risk to the local church.

Love & Respect Ministries covers the cost of ALL travel expenses and one workbook per person for the conference.

What should our facility be able to hold?
The requests for live conferences have increased greatly over the last couple years. To enable us to reach as many people in a region as possible, we require the facility where the conference will be held to seat 2000 + people.

Our desire is for Love and Respect Conferences to be regional events. If you are a smaller church, we suggest that you get other area churches to host the conference with you. One of these churches should be large enough to facilitate the event and would become the Host Church.

How do we promote this conference?
Though not related to numbers, a critical requirement for us is that the Senior Pastor and leadership have a vision for this Love and Respect event, and are committed to promote it at the church, through the Focus on the Family media campaign* and/or Emerson's availability to local radio stations who will promote this conference regionally. It is very exciting!

• Focus on the Family sponsors all of our marriage conferences. This means they will get behind the promotion of this event in your region. If you already have adequate contacts with radios stations, etc., it may be a great opportunity to collaborate efforts with Focus to work with even more stations. Does Love and Respect Ministries have any promotional products available?
Yes, there are posters, bulletin inserts, radio spots and promotional videos available. These will be used at your church as well as given to other area churches by you, to help promote your event. The promotional videos consist of both a lobby loop video and 7 one-minute clips. These one minute clips work effectively as an announcement/promo in a Sunday morning service beginning 12 weeks before the conference.

What if we cannot host the number of people needed for a live conference?
We have the conference available on DVD and CD (along with the workbooks used at the conferences.) For information on hosting a video conference, select “Host a Video Conference” from our home page. The Director of Video Conferences will contact you. Many smaller churches prefer the video conference because they have the freedom to do it within their own time frame.

How do I know if a specific date is available and what happens if two organizations want the same date?
The conferences are listed on the Events Calendar. Essentially, we operate on a first come first serve basis. However, before we look at dates we want to hear your vision as well as share ours.

What are the duties of the hosting committee?
* Secures a location
* Promotes the event
* Takes call in reservations as well as online pre-paid reservations
* Cares for these details related to these areas and enlists volunteers

Love and Respect Ministries has a hosting video available as an overview of the conference to recruit people for the Hosting Committee.
